iciHaiti – Canada : Two navy coastal protection vessels in Haitian waters
The 2 Canadian coastal protection navy vessels introduced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have arrived off the coast of Haiti.
Thursday March 2, 2023, Anita Anand the Canadian Minister of Protection confirmed their presence and specified “HMCS Glace Bay (MM701) and Moncton (MM 708) have arrived within the area. The ships will conduct presence patrols in and round Haitian waters over the approaching weeks – contributing to our maritime situational consciousness and bolstering efforts to determine and keep safety for Haitians” she mentioned.
These are two ships with a size of 55.31 meters of 970 tons, can transfer at a velocity of 15 knots (27.78 km/h) and have a variety of 5,000 km. They’re armed with a Bofors 40mm/60 Mk 5C autocannon and a pair of x Browning M2 machine weapons.
